Legion meetings are on the fourth Monday of every Month and begin at 7:30 p.m.

Post officers were installed at our August general membership meeting.

A team of Legion officers from the District installed the elected and appointed officers of Post 559 at our August general membership meeting.  Installation is a Legion tradition in which the District officers swear in each Post officer individually.

Memorial Day Service

Our annual Memorial Day Service was held on Monday, May26th at 10:30 a.m. in the center of Mount Annville Cemetery.  This year's speaker was our Post Finance Officer, Dan Greenawalt, and our Master of Ceremonies was COL. Richard Baylor, USP&FO for Pennsylvania.  An honor guard from the 28th Finance Bn. provided the salute to the dead, and the Washington Band from Annville provided the patriotic music.  The weather was beautiful and we were able to conduct the service outdoors.  We thank all who came to honor our fellow countrymen and women who paid for our freedom with their lives, and we thank all who assisted in putting this program together.

If anyone has pictures of the service or parade they would like to share with others, please email them to us at post559_admin@post559.org

Cemetery Flags

Once again a few dedicated members of Post 559 volunteer many hours of their time placing American Flags on the graves of our honored dead.  The Annville Legion is responsible for all of the cemeteries in our area, including Mount Annville, Grandview to mention a few.  Over the period of a few days our members and volunteers will placed approximately 1,000 flags in the ground.  This was hard work and we thank all who helped place flags last year, and hope we can depend on you, and others, to help out in 2009.

Avenue of Flags

Help is always needed (and welcome) to place flags along Main Street in Annville on Memorial Day 2010.  We raise flags at 7:00 a.m., and lower them at 5:00 p.m., weather permitting.

All help is appreciated!

In 2003 the Post purchased 100 flags, poles and holders, as well as covered the expense to Annville Township for the placing of the flagpole holders in the ground during Annville's Streetscape renovation.  On national holidays downtown Annville is alive with the fluttering of 100 symbols of America.  It is a sight to behold and has attracted media attention on more than one occasion.

Help raise or lower flags four times and your 2010 membership is on us.
